About Our Sexual Health Service
What happens at a private sexual health screening appointment?
Book your appointment
Unlike many NHS STD clinics, with Your Private Health you can book an appointment time that suits you. This means less waiting around meaning your test will have much less of an impact on your day to day routine.
Depositing your sample
When you arrive at your appointment you’ll be seen by one of our doctors or nurses. If you require a blood sample for your test, the nurse will draw the blood which will be sent to the laboratory. If you require a urine sample our nurse will talk you through the process for you to deposit the sample in the toilet.
Receiving your results
Once you’ve deposited your sample they will be taken to our laboratory for testing. We will forward your results as soon as they are received form the lab. Please note you will need to contact your GP for treatment should any of your results return positive.
What does the accuracy date mean on the tests?
The accuracy date for STD testing refers to the window in which it takes your test to become accurate following exposure. STDs take time to incubate in the body and build up to a detectable level, testing before this time can cause you to gain false negatives.
