Each country has a specific set of tests and checks before being granted a visa to work or live there. About our Private Visa Medicals
What does a private visa medical involve?
Consultation
Our private visa medicals involve a private consultation with Dr Bani. During this your medical history is explored, examinations are performed, and investigations such as blood tests, ECG and spirometry are conducted. The full assessment will be dictated by the specific requirements of the medical.
If you require a Chest X-Ray, this will be arranged immediately after your appointment at a local private imaging facility. The referral process will be organised by us, so all you have to do is attend.
A deposit is taken to confirm your appointment, this is NON-Refundable unless a minimum of 72 hours notice is provided.
Identification documents
It’s important that you bring a form of photo ID with you to your medical. If any other documentation is required we will inform you prior to your appointment.
Assessments
Once this is done we’ll begin making the physical assessments that are required. Depending on the medical that you require this may be general observations – such as height and weight – or more specific assessments such as heart rate or blood tests.
Some checks, such as blood tests may take some time to return your results. In these instances your sample will be taken before being sent to our laboratory for testing. The results will normally return within a couple of days.
If you require scans or x-rays as part of your medical these will be carried out at a location that we refer you to, with the results being sent back to the GP carrying out the medical.
Certification & Paperwork
Once we have received all of your results the medical forms or certificates will be promptly completed. You can either arrange to collect the paperwork, be emailed or we can post it to you.

When do I need to undergo my private visa medical?
Although we can complete your visa medical will usually take no longer than a few days for you to receive full certification, it’s always recommended to allow three weeks before travel. This will ensure that all of your results and paperwork are returned on time and also allow additional time in case any issues arise that may need addressing before you are clear to travel.
How long will a private visa medical take?
Appointment time
The length of time that your additional appointment takes depends on the assessments that are required. This usually takes between 15 – 60 minutes depending on the test that you require.
Imaging
Some medicals may require additional scans and X-rays that are carried out by Your Private Health’s partner organisations, all situated locally to the clinic you attend. We’ll arrange the appointment immediately after your assessment and take care of the referral process.
Results
Some tests, including blood tests, have to be sent to a laboratory for testing. These may take a few days for the results to be returned depending on the test and your appointment day.
Start to finish
This will depend on the medical you require, we pride ourselves on some of the fastest turnaround times in the country. We’ll keep you updated on progress every step of the way.
What form of ID is required and why?
It’s important that you bring photo ID to your appointment so that you can confirm your identity. This is either a Passport or a UK driving licence. Your photo ID will be checked by Dr Bani at your appointment.

Why is a deposit taken for booking?
Due to demand for medicals and limited availability, a deposit is required to secure your appointment. This is only refundable if your appointment is cancelled or rearranged more than 72 hours in advance.
